J.C. Nicholson crafts another winner!

This new book by J.C. far exceeded my expectations.  After reading Something
Wicked Came Undone I expected this book to follow in the same “spooky” genre.
What a SURPRISE and an unexpected one at that.  J.C. proves in this book that
she is able to write dynamically in multiple genres.  This new book follows the
story of Liberty Blair who is so totally wrapped in her own non-life that somewhere
on the way has lost herself and her daughter (Kirsten).  Can she ever get them
both back?  Along the way she meets several intriguing characters but it is
Detective John Hatchet who helps open Liberty’s eyes to the “real” world.  A world
that is filled with love, hate, deceit and betrayal.  This edgy tale sends Liberty on
several jaunts to Las Vegas and thrusts her unbeknownst hero into the middle of a
drug cartels dangerous nest.  This is a very fast-paced book that I could not put
down until the very last word.  With a wider mass-audience appeal, The Bastard’s
Mother could be the book that brings J.C. into the literary mainstream.  Keep them
coming J.C.!

Just finished the Bastard's Mother.  I enjoyed the characters very much in this
book. Very relatable characters.  The plot was not what I expected based on the
previous book, "Something Wicked Came Undone" but nevertheless the author
held my interest up till the very end.  Liked it a lot!

Well, you've done it again, J.C.  Most authors have a predictable style, but the
two books that I've read of yours so far have been totally different.  You have the
ability to keep the reader captivated to the end.  Looking forward to your next
one!

In the novel, The Bastard's Mother, Liberty Blair lives in Southern California and is
about to write a novel, when she learns her daughter, an only child, is missing.
After filing a Missing Person's report, she receives a call from a detective in a town
outside of Las Vegas, asking her to identify the body of a woman found in his
jurisdiction.  John Hatchet is known for his backbone and determination.  He's also
known for having had more than his share of women.  On the other hand, Liberty
has a few problems of her own, like a bad case of misplaced emotions, confused
sexuality and a lack of direction.  This just might hinder Detective Hatchet's resolve
in unraveling the mystery.

This novel is a very descriptive and visual read that held my interest.  It was well
written.  It has a sense of suspense to the novel that kept me wondering what was
going to happen next.  It was one of those edge of your seat grabbers that kept me
turning the page.  I feel that this author put in a great deal of time, dedication and
thought to this novel when writing.  The grammar was well selected and thought
out.  I can't say anything negative about the novel due to the enjoyment that my
co-worker and I had  in reading it.

I strongly recommend this novel be read by everyone, in hope that they find it as
pleasant a read as we did.  It will make you feel like one of the characters in the
book and make you feel the things the character did.  Wow, what a way to get your
reader inside of the book.  We hope that J.C. Nicholson will continue to write.  The
novel The Bastard's Mother will be in the public library for others to read and a
copy will be at the Mercury office as well if anyone wants to enjoy a fantastic read.
